You need two people and a toy I would think. One to pin him down and the other to take the temperature. It's tough taking it that way though, but very accurate. If your baby is anything like mine, I wouldn't be able to do it (Changing his diaper these days is almost IMPOSSIBLE!). You may want to distract him with a new object. Why don't you take him to your doc and have them do it?

: : I would try to take it rectally as I was also very nervous about doing this. It is not so bad though. I have heard the pacifier ones dont read accurately as well. It is scarey the first time they have a fever. My son had one of 104 at about 2 months and it wound up being a UTI. good luck!
