: We still haven't been able to go swimming yet, due to teething and fever but I think we'll try today. My MIL, my main source of questionable advice, has told me that I should not take him into our pool. She said he's too little and the chemicals are harmful. It's in ground, no excessive chemical levels, and about 80 degress. I just don't see any harm but she always makes me doubt. Is it Ok to take him in the pool? We started swimming lessons for our DS when he was 7 months and he's doing great. The important thing to watch out for is that your baby doesn't swallow a lot of water since the chemicals can cause toxicity. If he/she does swallow a lot of water, watch for a real wet diaper within the next 5 hours. Check out this website. I started my son in this survival swimming class with a private instructor last week and he's already floating. It's so incredible. You'll get some info on infant swimming too. I highly recommend this class for the safety of your child. http://www.infantswim.com/index.htm Rocio
