Baby weight question

Another weight question (baby's, this time):

How much weight should an 8 and a half month old be gaining each month? My son hasn't gained ANY weight in the last 4 weeks. I went to the doc yesterday and his weight is the same 17 lbs 5oz. He fell sick twice in the last month, which is probably the reason for not gaining weight. He has a bad diarrhea right now. My doc isn't concerned about his weight, though.
