He is probably not gaining weight because he was sick. And as long as all of his milestones are on track, I wouldn't worry.

A baby should gain weight in this order:

0-4 months old - 6 ounces per week

4-6 months old - 4-5 ounces per week

6-12 months old - 2-4 ounces per week

Height is in this order:

0-6 months old - 1 inch per month

6-12 months old - 1/2 inch per month
