: My daughter is 16 months old. Now I started a bad habbit by putting her to bed with her bottle. I am finding it very difficult to take that comfort away from her. It is almost like a security blanket. What should I do and how should I start weaning her from it? I don't want her chances of getting bottle rot to increase. I am trying to ttake the bottle away from her cold turkey..Is that the right thing to do? What are some tips anyone can give me for experience...Thx, Mariah Quitting cold turkey may not work for a lot of people, but it kind of did for me. My daughter was almost 16 months old and was drinking water and juice out of a sippy cup, but she wanted the bottle for milk. I tried giving her milk in the sippy cup a few times, but she would drink just a few sips. We were visiting my in-laws for a week and I decided not to carry her bottles with me.(I knew if I had them I would give in). I told her that I forgot the bottles. She refused to drink milk for 3 days and then she did fine with the sippy cup. But she never took a bottle to bed, so I guess it was easier for me. In your case you may want to wean your child gradually to a sippy cup. Good luck!
