I heard about the book Babywise from my sister-in-law who read it and followed some of the principles with her twins. She had tremendous success with it as did I. I did not follow the book to the letter. I always rock my daughter to sleep and I have never let her lay in her crib and cry herself to sleep...I always respond to her cries. What I did do was keep her on a 3 hour feeding schedule as close as practical. If she was showing signs of hunger at 2 - 2.5 hours, I fed her. However, if she was sound asleep when it was time to eat based on the schedule, I woke her up to eat. She is now 8 weeks old and I have been enjoying a full nights rest for 2 weeks. You can still accomplish the goal of having your child sleeping through the night without sacrificing the development of trust your baby gains from you meeting their emotional needs. I am enjoying a very happy and healthy baby girl!
