baby won't sleep in crib

I need help!! I made the stupid mistake of sleeping on the couch with my son for the first 5weeks of his little life. It was just easier for me that way because his bedroom is on the second floor and the kitchen is downstairs and I had to bottle feed him. Anyway, now that I am well and able to go up and down the stairs I want to sleep in my own bed again...ALONE... and I can not get him to sleep in his crib. I've tried keeping him up alot during the day and keeping him up all afternoon, I've tried putting articles of my clothing in with him so my scent will be there, I've tried letting him cry to see if he will put himself back to sleep, nothing works!! He will fall asleep after his feeding in my arms and I put him in the crib and about 5min later his is screaming like someone cut his arm off. I'm at a total loss I have no more ideas and I feel like pulling my hair out. So if anyone has any ideas other than the ones above I would be forever grateful. And if they actually work you deserve a medal!!!
