I hear ya!!!! My son is going to be seven next week, and he used to talk back all the time (it started when he turned 6) Its SOOOO hard not to want to smack them - but I dont believe in that either, so it's a dilemma. Here's what I did... his big thing was Yu-gi-oh & Pokeman cards, he collected them. I bought a big poster board and those little star stickers and put it in his room. When ever he said something kind, or did something nice he got one star. For every 10 he got a pack of playing cards. Now, if he said something mean or hurtful I would take one off. He caught on pretty quick and being nice became the norm. I really believe in encouraging positive behavior rather than focusing on the bad. These things are usually just phases anyway...they pass. So find her thing.. barbies, clothes, etc. whatever gets her excited and work with it. rather, make her work for it. Soon the positive behavior will become normal!! Good Luck!!! beth
