hey- I can relate to what you are going through. I was 18 when I found out I was pregnant - I used a lot of drugs before I even knew I was pregnant and smoked a lot -(I didnt find out I was pregnant until I was a month along, and I used cocaine during that time)... I was freaked out and told the doctor the truth. I weened off the smokes (cold turkey can actually hurt the baby, your body goes into shock) so each day I smoked 1 less, by my fourth my I was done all together. I did not use drugs or drink during the remainder of the pregnancy. My son was born 11 pounds! Big babies run in my family, he was as healthy as could be. Being a young, single mom is hard. I had family to help a little, but I was on my own. I got a lot of help from the gov. for day care so I could work. Also, I got grants to go to college at night (my mom would babysit) I'll be honest with you - I love my son dearly but if I knew how tough our lives would be back then I would have considered adoption. I love him enough for my pride not to matter. But whatever you decide, be strong. You'll make it, and you'll be ok. Try to focus on you and your baby -forget about anything else. Nothing matters now except you and your baby's well being. Take care.
