: My 6 year old has devoloped a horrible attduide lately, Soon as her dad walks in from work she starts getting mouthy telling him to shut up etc.
: If i ask her to clean her room she tells me NO and that i can't tell her what to do, everyday seems to be a battle with her. We tried grounding her, took sweets off her, sent her to bed and nothing has worked. Sometimes i just feel like really smacking her but i know that wont help.

Hi Lisa,

At this age, time-outs, sending to their room, practically nothing works. I agree with Beth. I also saw some similar advice on the Dr. Phil show who also recommends to try and find things a child really likes and withdraw those items and also reward positive behavior.

Good luck and give us an update.
