: : My neighbour has an 8 month old baby boy and the other day I went to babysit for them and the baby sleept for a long time while I was there. Although I know it is easier for older babies to take longer naps; I asked her how did she managed to have him sleeping for such long periods of time? She said they let him "cry it out" when he was 3 months old and he quickly learned no one was coming to pick him up and stopped crying. He now sleeps from 6pm-7am without waking up and also has a nap in the afternoon. I think CIO has its benefits and I will sure try it out if anything else works - but don't you think 3 months old is a little early to start CIO? She said babies as young as 3 months know how to manipulate their parents and I am not sure that is true. Any comments on this? : My daughter will be 3 months on the 13 of august, and she is sleeping though the night, i started her on pablum and her down for the night, after her burp and she has been sleeping for up to 8 hours straight. most nights it is anywere from 6 to 7 but still, she eats more dirring the day and before she goes to bed(her choice) and that fills her up. every parent is different just like every child is different, i dont think that CIO at 3 months is a bad thing but iam not sure if i could do it to my little ones. I also started my babies on cereal (I believe you call it pablam) at that age but mixed it in her bottle at first. Then, as crazy as it sounds, I mixed stage 1 applesauce in too. Since the CIO and the bottle, my kids slept 12 to 14 hours. Now that they are toddlers and just drinking water at night, they sleep 12 hours.
