Hi Sue,

If the cough sounds sort of like a bark, I would think he might have croup. Croup is viral and sometimes follows a bad cold - it's sort of like a last step. Although it is short lived, (usually like 3-5 nights maximum) it can be very scary to hear. They dont act sick at all and it only happens at night. I would do the humidifier. If he's not better and if it does sound like a bark I would bring him to the dr.'s just to make sure he's not wheezing.

Good luck!!

: Charlie had a bad cold and cough about three weeks ago. I took him to the drs and they gave him some medicine. He seemed to improve. In the last week though he's been coughing at night. He doesn't seem to be sick but has this hacking cough. He's about to cut his top teeth and at first I thought that it was just excess drool that went down the wrong pipe, so to speak. But I'm not sure if it could be something else. What could it be?
