Hitting

My 10 month old DS is getting very physical. He hits everyone, especially me. He hits when he is happy or mad. He also hits my daughter really badly. I meet up regularly with a couple of girlfriends of mine who have babies/toddlers. My DS is the youngest of the lot and he hits the other babies. He is now the little terror of the group. If I say NO, he hits even more. I just try to ignore him. Any advice on how to get him to stop?
