Folks are saying there's no link between MMR and autism. But if that's true, why, then, did the U.S. Congress quietly include in the Homeland Defense Bill, a rider that effectively makes Eli Lily Corporatation (a huge pharmaceutical company here in the U.S.) immune from any future responsibility if there is indeed a link found between MMR vaccine and autism?

I have to wonder.

I'm not saying don't get the vaccine. My child had it (before info on this development came out) and he's fine. I would discuss this with your doc. What are the ramifications if you don't get the vaccine now? Can you get it later? Is the risk worth it to not get the vaccine now?

Knowing what I know now, If it were me, I'd probably not get the MMR vaccine until much later - say 4 years old, if that's allowed. But I say this because there is an autistic child in my extended family and I am personally aware of the heartbreak and tragedy involved in watching a child suffer with this condition.
