Newborn switch day and night?

My little girl is a week and 4 days old and she sleeps all day long, I mean to the point where I have to wake her up for feedings and my Dh nicknamed her "letargic baby". The problem is, she is awake at night instead and no matter how hard we try to put her to sleep, it doesn't work! She has her eyes wide open and seem to want to play. Has anyone had the same problem with their baby and how did you fix it? Thanks, Sally 2
