: My little girl is a week and 4 days old and she sleeps all day long, I mean to the point where I have to wake her up for feedings and my Dh nicknamed her "letargic baby". The problem is, she is awake at night instead and no matter how hard we try to put her to sleep, it doesn't work! She has her eyes wide open and seem to want to play. Has anyone had the same problem with their baby and how did you fix it? Thanks, Sally 2 Hi Sally, Do you breast-feed or formula feed? Hope this is helpful.

Congratulations on your newborn! I have a feeling she is sleeping way too much during the day and not tired at night. She just wants to party at night. I would try to stimulate her more during the day but do give her plenty of naps during the day. I would feed her right when she gets up in the morning, then keep her up for at least 2 hours, then feed her and put her to sleep. When she wakes up, feed her again, keep her up for 2 or 3 hours, then feed her and put her to sleep, and repeat this. As she begins to get older, she will get used to this, somewhat like a schedule.
