9 month old feeding

Hi
My 9 month old weighs 17.10 lbs. (Has lost weight due to canker sores)I had posted earlier about his his new eating habits. He wants only formula.
His doc said that I should not feed more than 24 onces and, when he gets really hungry he'll eat solids. I just wanted for advise on what 9 month old eats and how much. Any advise would be grateful.
