: Hi

: I have a 9 mos old and wants to start weaning from the bottle. He drinks juices/water from the sippy cup but, most of the time he doesn't swallow it all. When did your baby gain the skill to suck the liqiud from a spill proof cup? When did your baby drink from a straw?

: Thanks in advance

I have a 9 month old too. I've been giving him a sippy cup for several months. It took him about a month to get the hang of it. It's only been in the last three to four week that he's actually getting any juice out. I still give him a bottle in the morning, at bedtime, and if he wakes up at night. But any juice/milk that he gets in between is from a cup . He's just figuring out how to drink with a straw. I found that my son learns best if I show him what to do by pretending to be drinking from the cup or straw. Then he usually imitates me. It just takes patience and constant repetition. Good luck.
