It is safer for babies to sleep on their backs, but it is also okay to put them on their sides. whichever you choose, make sure you aren't always lying them in the same position with their head always facing the same way or the baby could develop a flat spot on it's head! Try putting your baby on it's tummy during the day when you can keep an eye on him/her.
