: my 2 year old sister is very attached to my grand father but he is too old to care for her. so my aunt who my sister does not know is going to adopt her. how do we ween her away so that it doesnt traumatize her? p.s. our mother died recently.

Hello,

I am terribly sorry to hear about your mother. I really would not try to wean your sister away from her grandfather especially now that your mother has passed away. She is probably already traumatized and would be even more confused and feel like she is losing everyone if you wean her from your grandfather. I know he is very old to care for her but just her seeing her grandfather and maybe someone else picking her up to give him a hug and a kiss and just her sitting next to him would make her happy and I am sure your grandfather too would not be that strenuous on him.

Take care. Keep me posted.
