: is there any reason for being a month late for your period and not being pregnant?

If you are a month late and not pregnant, many things can cause a delay (amenorrhea) like stress; not getting enough fat in your diet caused by excessive dieting; this is because fat is what increases your estrogen level and then causes a period, and if there is not enough fat, there is not enough estrogen so it would delay it; excessive exercise; depression; a thyroid problem; excessive prolactin level; a cyst would cause a heavy period so I don't think you have a cyst; hormonal imbalance; pituitary gland problems.

I would go to the doctor and ask him to order a chemistry panel, TSH and T4 which is to check for thyroid, FSH, LH and prolactin to check for hormone levels, and these labs will tell them what is causing the delay. If these labs are normal, then an ultrasound may be helpful. If that is normal, then stress was probably the cause.

Hope this helps.
