I am very sorry if I offended you in any way. I understand that in your case maybe it was necessary to take medication but, if there is not severe vomiting, I just wouldn't risk it. I am aware also of the types of DS and neurological problems and did make it clear that not all are caused my medication and for other reasons such as hereditary but many times they are caused by medication because it interferes with chromosomes in the first trimester as I explained. I also explained that medication should be prescribed if it is absolutely necessary. In my opinion, I wouldn't want to risk the health of my child unless it would endanger me or my child if I didnt't. I know there are many women out there who have smoked, drank, and did drugs and still had a normal baby, but there are some who were not so lucky even with just prescription drugs. Maybe I am just overprotective because I would not even drink caffeine while being pregnant and made sure I ate right.
I will tell you a personal story also. One of my heart valves is artificial. A heart has 4 valves. My tricuspid was damaged when I was born because when the doctors repaired the hole in my heart that I was born with, they damaged my valve because it was close to it. The hole in my heart was nothing genetic as my kids were born with no problems and my whole family as well. My mother was given some medication because she almost miscarried me due to stress and that happened to me. Well, I had a valve where I had to take blood thinning medicine which was a category C. Well, I did not want to risk the health of my baby in any way, so I went and begged the doctor to have another open-heart surgery and replace my valve with a valve that does not require any medication and so I would get pregnant without taking any type of medication. I did have the surgery. I went that far so that I would not endanger my kids in any way if I did get pregnant.
