: my 2 week old daughter has really bad constapation. the docs cant give her lactolouse as i am intolerant and might have passed it on. she strains so much it makes her scream. ive tried sugar water but that dosnt help. any other suggestions ?

Ask if you can give her a suppository (sp?). It could be that her little body just hasn't figured everything out yet. Sorry to be graphic, but make sure you keep it close to the wall of the rectum, instead of putting into the poop. It will be more likely to work. Don't worry. She won't have troubles for long. Is the baby breast-fed or formula-fed? Formula can be very constipating, so you may try switching to breastmilk, if you can.
