: Hi,

: Does anyone know when it is safe to introduce
: fish into a toddler's diet? I know some types of fish have high levels of Mercury and I also thought that fish was a highly allergenic food.
: I'd like to try giving my 18 month old son fish sticks but have not introduced any fish/seafood into his diet as of yet.

I have heard that the fish that has high levels of mercury is the albacore tuna fish. There is a chance he could be allergic to any type of seafood. If you haven't introduced any seafood and you want to, you could start with just a little piece and watch for signs of allergies. If he does okay that day, then he might not have any problems with seafood.
