Excema

I need help desparately, my 16yr daughter is sufferingform "excema". She has terrible marks on her legs that look like bruises. We live on the south coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa in a warm and moist climate. I would like to know if their is any link in the climate and the excema. She is under treatment from a Dermatologist, but I am not happy with the treatment that he has put her on, namely Diane contraceptive pills. She is not sexually active and does not feel comfortable using the pill. She is experiencing side affects from the treatment such as weight loss and mood swings. Is this a recognised treatment for excema or is it just a cop out on the side of the doctor?
Does anybody know of any other treatment that is effective and how am I going to get rid of the blue marks and scarring left by this "excema"?
