Afro-american baby hair

I have a 5mts old afro-american baby girl;She has what i though was cradle cap i put baby oil on it.Now were the cradle cap was it has white patches;Has anyone had this problem.Patches like the size of a quarter;What is the best to put on her hair; Or is it cradle cap
