She is not too old to start using this method. The sooner the better, for your own sake! My husband and I started using it when my son was very young and we have not had any sleep problems with him since. I have a book called 'Toddler Taming' and the author also recommends the Ferber method, he swears that sleeping problems such as your daughter's can be cured very quickly. I think you need to act on it as soon as you can. Good luck.
