We have had good success with babywise. We started late at approximately 8 weeks. My son is now 13 weeks and gets up once at night for a feeding. He goes to sleep easily cooing, not crying, and is very happy and content. He is in the 95% for height and weight and is thriving. We too had a similar situation for a while with early waking. Have you tried moving the naptime 15 min earlier? My son would sometimes only sleep for 45 min naps, when then transition into deeper sleep. I would go in and comfort him without getting him up and he would go back to sleep for another 45 mintues and has been consistently napping for 1 1/2 hours of his three hour schedule.
