Hi Candace
Does your son still need to be through the night? That may be a problem, that he is waking up to be nursed. When my son was 5 months old, he wasn't having any more night feeds and so he slept right through the night. Perhaps that is a habit you need to break... could you give him some water if he wakes up instead of milk? That might discourage him from doing it. Also, it's up to you of course, but maybe you could try controlled crying - you know when you let them cry for a few minutes, go in and pat them or reassure them that you are there, and then leave the room again. Keep doing this process until they go to sleep - first let them cry for two minutes, then five minutes, then ten minutes, etc, but keep going in to reassure them. This method worked wonderfully with our son, but you may not wish to try it just yet. Good luck.
