I have the same problem with my 3 and half week old. I went to see the pediatrician the other day and he said that I need to start getting my daughter used to falling alseep in her own space by herself. He said she needs to learn that its ok to fall asleep on her own without being held sung to or rocked. He said once we do this and she knows she can sleep on her own then she will sleep during the night at around 2 to 3 months. To tell you the truth.......I dont think I am willing to let her cry herself to sleep at this age. He told us if we dont start now that once she does go to sleep on her own that sooner or later she will get back in the habit of needing to be rocked and held to sleep again. So, not really sure what to tell you but that is what we were told for our 3 week old.
