Our daughter slept fantastically until she was 4 1/2 months old. She even started sleeping through the night at 3 1/2 months. At 4 1/2 months she stopped. I was nursing her & we would nurse & rock her to sleep. She would no longer do that. She would scream for hours. We tried walking with her, rocking, nursing, singing. We tried the Ferber method, but all it did was make us want to pull our hair out. We tried co-family sleeping; she slept great, but we didn't. After we read "Baby Whisperer", we decided our baby was a "textbook" baby most of the time except when it came to bedtime - then she was most definately a "touchy" baby. We decided we needed to establish a bedtime routine. We started nursing at 6:30 pm, then bathtime at 7:00 pm, followed by a short massage, storytime, & then bedtime. The first night we tried it, she fell asleep within 45 minutes with some fussing (a far cry from 2 hours with her screaming the whole time). I also decided to try the "EASY" routine. I was nursing her on demand (every 1 1/2 hours) by feeding her when she cried. It turns out I wasn't paying attention to her cries. When she was tired, I was sticking a boob in her mouth & she got extra fore-milk (which is lactose-rich) which made her gassy & fussy. I started feeding her every 2 1/2 to 3 hours & she was like a new baby. Once we had bedtime figured out & the feedings down, naptime basically fixed itself. She is now almost 11 months old, still breastfeeding, & sleeps great. She falls alseep on her own & only gets up once during the night. Good luck with your little one.
