: Here's my problem: my fourteen month old daughter does not sleep. Not only will she not go to sleep but once asleep she doesn't stay asleep for more than about two hours. Then she's up for an hour and then back out for two. This has gone on for months. I keep here very busy throughout the day, she doesn't have a long or a late nap. She isn't hungry when she wakes up (We've tried to feed her and she doesn't want it) and she doesn't usually seem cranky when she wakes up, it's more that she wants to go be busy. I've talked to doctors about this and they don't have any answers for me. I am at the end of my rope. Oh, for more info, she will not go in her bed, sleeps in a pack and play in our room and sometimes our bed. We tried the Ferber method, where you put the child to bed awake and then go back and comfort the child at specific intervals but she screamed so hard that she threw up, several times. I can't take that for hours. Any ideas? My son is the same, he sleeps on the living room floor with just a pillow and his blanket. This all started after 3 things in his life changed. We moved from Massachusetts to Georgia, he went from sleeping in mom and dad's room to his own room (he loved this though), and switching from soy formula to milk, so I am going to retrace my steps and put him on soy again. I wore him out yesterday and he slept a bit better but still managed to end up beside me in bed. He won't stay with his dad (my husband sleeps days and works afternoons until 11 so he is up all night when he gets home), he'll just bawl his eyes out until I get up. I am a zombie. Just try telling yourself that it isn't your child's fault and she isn't doing this to you on purpose. Also know you aren't doing anything wrong, as long as you can take some time outs (I had to, I got so tired I yelled at my son for keeping me up) if you feel out of control and not vent on your child. I am just going to let this phase go by, he slept through the night once before on his own and I know he will again.
