: My son is 11 weeks old and will not sleep on his back. If we put him on his back to sleep, he will wake up after a half an hour. When I put him on his tummy (for naps during the day), he sleeps peacefully for hours! I would love to let him sleep on his tummy at night, but I am scared of SIDS. Has anyone else had this problem? At what age can I safely put him to sleep on his belly?

My son is now 3 1/2 months old. He was doing the same thing as your baby, waking often if on his back. We finally tried him on his tummy at about 6 weeks. The first time he slept for 6 hours, it was wonderful! I know the worry of SIDS, and I believe it is a personal decision how you put your baby down. I also believe though that there are babies that can't sleep on there backs. Good luck in your choice.
