I'm in the same boat, my baby girl is now 8 months old and her tongue is always out, it began when she was about 2 months old. We also went to a peadatrician and he said she seems fine and she is developing normally (however she is quite large in height and weight and has trouble rolling over). I have also scanned internet sites in the hope of some clarification and will keep looking as I am not satisfied with the answers that I have been getting. I will keep you updated and would appreciate any further info.
: Hi Jeanne!
: It's been a long time since I've looked at this message board. I have not found out any more regarding my daughter and her tongue protrusion. (She still sticks it out or just rests it between her teeth.) She is now 9 1/2 months old and is developing as normal as can be....she crawls, babbles, laugh, smiles, is starting to pull her self up, and she walks from room to room if she hold on to your fingers. The pediatrician thinks she is fine. We had a follow up vist at 6 months with a genetic doctor who told me she is a normal baby and not to worry.
: I still worry however. Every so often I search the internet trying to find something. I think just going through such a thing....being told your baby has Down Syndrome and then one week later, having them call you and say, nope we were wrong, she doesn't have Downs, has really done something to me emotionally. It's just so hard to relax and really believe there is nothing wrong with her. Do you find yourself having a hard time not worrying? I'm just curious.
: My daughter is now 5 weeks old, and she also is sticking her tongue out all the time. She was also tested for Down Syndrome and Hypothyroidism and is normal. The nurse practitioner told me that some babies just like to stick their tongues out. Did you find out any other information about it? If so I am very interested to hear. Thank you! ~ Jeanne (firstname.lastname@example.org)

: : : : When my daughter was born she stuck her tongue out all the time....really pushing it out. Also she often just rests it between her lips. When she was born she was tested for Down Syndrome and Hypothyroidism and all the tests turned out normal....she does not have Downs (all 50 cells were normal) or hypothyroidism. I just keep worrying about her. She is just constantly sticking out her tongue. She is four and a half months old and is doing everything a baby should be at her age....smiling, giggling, focusing intently on people and toys, grabbing objects and bringing them to her mouth. Does any have a baby that stick their tongue out constantly? Do they eventually stop doing it and if so when? Thanks for any information!
