Hi everyone, For about 2 weeks now, my 19 month old son, who used to love sleep amd crawl into his toddler bed independently at 10PM and sleep like a dream until 10AM, has changed his mind and decided to become an insomniac. I don't like to boast about this because so many people out there, and here have delt with sleepless babies for months, but My son slept 5 hours the night we brought him home from the hospital. He ate barely an ounce during the day, and a whopping 4 oz before bed, and slept 6 hours by 31/2 weeks. To make a long story short, I'm not used to getting up every 2 hours with a baby, especially now, and the night is very long, and the infomercials on TV, (We don't have cable) at 3AM are not entertaining at all! My son just cut 2 molars, which had something to do with it, but my question is how do I get him back into his former habit. We would put him in bed, tuck him in, give him a kiss and his pooh bear, and shut the door and leave the room. He would stay in bed and sleep 12 hours. Recently, he has begun head-butting the walls and the door very fiercely until he's black and blue. I didn't want him to look like he got beat up, I went into his room, and knelt beside the bed until he fell asleep. Now, he wont go to bed independently! What do I do? I never meant to start this! We are having relatives for THnksgiving and I didn't want them to see him looking like taht, some of them haven't seen him in a year. Now, he fights going to bed, bangs his head on the door, and cries until the cows come home, if we're not in there with him. He has also been up every 2 hours and staying awake crying for 1 hour straight. I give him tylenol, had his ears checked(no probs, give him teething gels, sooth him, etc, he falls asleep on me, but never in my bed, or on the floor. He wakes immediately after I leave, (it's like he senses it) or as soon as I put him in his bed. Walkin a newborn to sleep is hard enough, but a 21 pound toddler! Anyway, any advice would be so appreciated! Are we doomed or is there hope to getting him back on track? Thanks everyone. Take Care---------------------------Jamie
