I don't have any first hand experience with toddlers, as my daughter is only 6 months old. However, I can sympathize with sleep deprivation. The one thing I've heard suggested before with toddlers is maybe it would help for you to spend a night or two in the room with the child. I read something that said place an air mattress next to your son't bed and sleep there. The first night, it should be right next to the bed. The next night the mattress can be closer to the door. The third night it can be right at the doorway. The fourth night, you can be in your own bed. That's extreme, I know. Maybe some parents of toddlers or older kids have other suggestions. The one thing you should know is that you have plenty of sleep deprivation friends here. My daughter slept from 8pm until 3am last night and I'm about to do a dance of joy over it. She has an ear infection and hasn't slept much (not have my wife and I) in about a week. Add to that, she's a crappy sleeper to begin with usually.
