I'm so sick of not sleeping. If it's not teething, it's an ear infection, if it's not an ear infection it's a growth spurt. If it's not any of those things it's a baby who just won't freaking sleep.

Hannah (you may remember) was diagnosed with an ear infection this past Monday. The doctor said it was likely related to teething, as the fluid just drains back and pools in the ears. She's been on antibiotics since Monday evening. She's also been on numbing drops intermittantly since then. She did better for the first couple of nights and has been getting worse since. We saw the doctor again today and she said the drainage after an ear infection can sometimes hurt as much as the infection itself. She said usually it clears up in a day or two but sometimes can go on for a week or two.

As a result of the above, my wife and I have been getting about 5 hours of sleep a night for the last few nights. Hannah usually ends up in bed with us being nursed, where none of us sleep well. I'm so afraid of squishing her that I sleep with one eye open.

What the heck do you do with a sick baby? You can't very well enforce sleep upon her with things such as crying it out.

I'm so damned tired.
