You are right about listening to your instincts. This is not something that feels right. I simply cannot just sit and listen to my daughter crying like that. Who wants to go to sleep upset like that? Also, when my daughter cries my breasts leak. I'm having a biological reaction to her crying, my body is telling me something here. If letting her cry through this is correct why would my breasts leak? I believe its natures way of saying she needs food. I may be completely wrong but as you say it just does not feel right to me to not go and comfort my daughter or feed her during the night. I will and have started using some of the suggestions you have given to other people to try and get her to self settle without the 'trauma' of crying until she is so exhuasted she falls asleep. Merci beaucoup for the input. My pediatrician is quite old and has the old 'doctor spock' approach to parenting. I guess as with anything you read and take what you need and disregard the rest.
