I say to both of you to trust your own instincts and intuition. If the settling plan isn't working for you, and you are not comfortable or convinced that it's helping, and are concerned that it's doing more harm than good, then make adjustments or don't continue.

Steve, I think you guys are having a lot of success. But I know it's hard to listen to your child cry for even one minute.

The bottom line is that you need to figure out what's most important to you and your family and do what your heart tells you is the right thing.

As for me, we're having mixed results, Last night was a singularly terrible night of sleep for Alex. But, I'm blaming the "human factor". we went somewhere after work, and that messed with her routine enough to throw off the nap schedule. Plus. she's got a raspy cough developing, and I'm wondering what physical issues are contributing.

Alex doesn't cry the desperate, abaondond cry that you guys are hearing. She whines & moans, and then, when she gets worked up, she cries the angry cry. I should point out, too, that we spend a lot of time helping her to relax before we put her down and leave the room, and still, after weeks of working on fading our support, usually have to go back, get her calmed down and try again. The more tired she is, the harder it is to get her to sleep.
