Hi Christie,

I didn't start out on a schedule either and have not adopted a strict schedule by any means. My son is breastfeed and I let him eat when he's hungry but it has just fallen into place that its about every 2 -3 hours during the day. Some days he wants it more often and others he goes a little longer - up to 4 hours. It just depends on his growth spurts etc.
I did however find that it was alot better when i kept him to a pattern of eat, play, sleep. i found that with this pattern he seems to be falling into his own schedule without me having to force one on him.
Probably not much help to you, but I definitly notice a big difference since I've followed that pattern. Some days he eats for 40 minutes some days he eats for 10 it really does depend. As far as your babies eating patterns, if his growth is good I don't think you have too much to worry about, during growth spurts they will eat more than when they aren't.
Good luck and give us an update on how your doing/
