Overall, we seem to be making progress, although things are far from perfect at this point. We're still walking zombies for he most part. Basically there's good news and bad news. THE GOOD NEWS THE BAD NEWS NEW THINGS WE'RE TRYING 2) We're back to giving Hannah Motrin before bed every night. We'd stopped for about a week since her ear infection cleared up, but judging by the amount of finger chomping Hannah is doing, I suspect her teeth are coming. She's been awfully cranky during the day so that may be what's up. 3) I cut out reading a book at bedtime. I really would love to have this part of our bedtime ritual, but it just seems to wake her up. 4) I'm putting her down on her tummy to sleep whenever possible. I started this tonight. She used to HATE being on her stomach but lately that's seemed to finally go away. The times lately when she's slept well, she's done it on her tummy. We'll see if that's coincidence.

Hannah appears to be learning to put herself back to sleep when she wakes up. We've vowed to let her cry for 3-5 minutes when she wakes up in the night. At the end of that time if she's still crying, or if she gets frantic before then, we go get her. She started crying about a half dozen times last night and got herself back to sleep each time.
Despite the above, Hannah still woke up sufficiently for us to have to go deal with her 4 different times last night. She went down at 8pm and we had to go comfort her at 11:30pm, 12:30am, 3am, and 4am. At 4am my wife fed her. She normally would have fed her at 3am, but Hannah apparently seemed like she wanted to go back asleep. Each of those times she was pretty easy to help back to sleep, however we're still not 100% sure what the heck is making her wake so much.
1) I'm trying to avoid the banshee screaming by letting my wife nurse Hannah to sleep during the last feeding of the day. When that feeding is done, I pick Hannah up and wake her up partially. I talk to her about going to bed as I'm carrying her upstairs. Her room light is ON as we walk in and before I put her down I put on her Baby Beatles and tell her good night one more time. I then try to make sure her eyes are at least cracked just a little as I put her down. This has worked pretty well for the last couple of nights. I'm fairly sure she's been partially awake. I know this isn't a perfect system but I don't know that I can take the shrieking anymore.
