Cryin in Sleep

Thomas is just under 4 months old, and recently he had been doing really well with his sleeping. I went back to work after my maternity leave last week, and since then he has been crying a lot in his sleep. He does not wake up, he just cries and cries in his sleep, and if I go in and make little shh shh noises and stroke the top of his head he settles back down and carries on sleeping.

He is teething as he has been chewing on his fingers and anything else he can get into his mouth, his cheeks are all red and he's generally out of sorts.

I do think that perhaps he is crying in his sleep because of his teeth, but part of me feels terribly guilty that I have had to go back to work, and think that this crying thing is because he is distressed at being left with his Aunt every day.

Has anybody else's baby been crying in their sleep, and if so why? I just feel so absolutely awful leaving him each day to go back to work and am worried that this is upsetting him too.
