Hi Tracy, Believe me, I know what you mean. It is rough and EXPENSIVE for the first year...at least. My son Julian NEVER ate baby food, as it was just to much for his system. He couldn't tolerate it and it made him miserable. I was afraid of what would happen when he needed to eat. My GI kept telling me not to worry about it. When he was about 11mos old or so, we startd giving him table food in small quantities, starting with bland foods, mixed w/his formula..(ie. mashed potatoes (real potatoes), sweet potatoes, cream of wheat, oatmeal, mashed bananas, etc.), then we moved slowly to waffles, crackers (Ritz), toast w/jelly/jam, then chicken (white meat nuggest), rice, pears, and then the Gerber Toddler Meals (the chicken ravioli and beef ravioli in clear broth). Just recently we were able to give him some juice (apple) mixed with half to three quarters water. We still are cautious about what he eats, but he the table food went over extremely well and he is doing great. When I think back, my daughter didn't tolerate baby food either and she was MPI, but I got lucky as she could tolerate soy. Good Luck. Keep us posted. Are you going to try the Next Step switch or play it safe with continuing on Neocate? : WOW! : I would love to get him off of the Neocate strictly because of the cost. I get so confused about the whole diet issue because not only is he Milk and Soy intolerant, but I'm wondering if he also has a fructose intolerance. I cannot get him to tolerate fruit of any kind. Yesterday I decided to try 2 ounces of apple with his rice cereal. He seemed okay throughout the day but last night was up three times. When I would pick him up he would let out loud gas. The only thing different yesterday from the day before when he slept through the night was the apples. : I feel so bad, he looks longingly at our dinner plates but is stuck eating stage 2 vegetables and cereal. He gets more Neocate than he probably should because he's really not interested in his boring food. : He turns one January 3rd so I downloaded the milk, egg, soy free birthday cake recipe for his smash cake. I hope he outgrows this!

: Thanks for all the input. The nicest thing is to know that I'm not alone. It's so sad that any baby has to go through it, but at least we can share experiences. My husband gets so frustrated because we have a lot of babies in the family and of course our son is the only one with these issues. I keep telling him there are a lot of children out there with the same problems that Jacob is facing.
