: Hi Vanessa: : As far as I know, rice is supposed to be the cereal to start with for allergy reasons only, however, it is the worst to digest, causing constipation and gas and fussiness. Had the same issue with my son as you are having with Thomas...I just switched to Oatmeal and the problem went away, and he LOVED it. (I had mentioned the Beechnut as it was soy free and I thought your son had food allergy, sorry!). After a couple weeks on the Oatmeal, I went to Barley, then Mixed...he could never tolerate Mixed...probably because of the rice! Hope this helps. Debbie : I had thought that we should try that, but do you know if oats are glutinous. My husband has Celiac disease, and we are trying to avoid any of his allergens till 10 or 12 months. Thanks for the idea though. I think I will check it out with the Dr.

: : Thomas is 4 1/2 months old. LOVES food off a spoon. Sweet potatoes are a hit, pears will be tried tonight. Rice cereal is still sucking big time though. Thanks MB for the suggestion on the beech-nut products but I can't find them in Canada so far. Beside ingredients wise, he is on a formula that contains soy oil, and no troubles before this. My Q is, could he have a problem with the rice? I am stumped. The nights he has had cereal he cries for an hour or two before bed. Very out of the ordinary for him. Any ideas anyone. Can you make homemade baby rice food? I will try anything right now. Like I said he loves food. Anyone that knows our food struggles with Eleanor will understand why we don't want to discourage him. Thanks.
