I'm sorry to hear that Brayden has been sick - and for so long! Poor little guy!! That can really burn you both out. I'm so glad to hear that you are getting out and doing something for yourself! Taking a class is a great way to meet new folks. Especial ECFE classes - you can meet other Moms and Dads that have kids Brayden's age. We haven't been able to find a class that fits into our schedule yet, but we'll keep looking. Biggest problem is that Alex doesn't travel well, especially at night - she also hates her car seat, and riding in the car, especially after 4:00pm. The other suggestion I was going to make, but forgot to, was to see if your area has a MOMS Club. There is a website for the international group - I'm attaching a link to the NY area listing, but the main website is www.momsclub.org. Basically, they are groups of local stay-at-home Moms and they get together and have play groups, special interest groups (I went on a few walks with "Walking Moms" in my area), etc... and they welcome kids to all of the activities. Membership is really cheap - here it's $20 a year, and they waive the fee if you are really strapped for cash. Alex also sits in her baby seat in the bathroom while I shower! She's so great in the mornings - so calm and patient and happy, and entertains herself for the short while that I'm actually in the shower. She does not let us both sit to eat at the same time, though. Dinner time is a tough time of the day for her. She's just started to sit in the high chair, and sometimes we can give her a few organic oat bran o's (her version of cherios, we call them Ohbeeoh's) for her to play with. That lasts for about 15 mintues - she maybe eats one or two, but mostly likes to play with them. The main thing with her is that you always have to be ready to move on to the next thing - nothing entertains her for very long, and she gets easily frustrated with her toys. Lately, also, she gets easily frustrated with trying to crawl. She's so close - up on all fours and rocking, and just gets so dang mad that she can't get to the next level. So, we've developed this arsenal of activities - the daycare provider has as well. I grew up so close to you! We often went to concerts in Saratoga (and to horse racing in Saratoga Springs once in a while). I had a few friends who attended college in Syracuse. Lucky you that Brayden is a self soother. Alex used to be, but then just stopped. She occasionally sucks her thumb, but that mostly frustrates her. She likes my finger better. The pacifier is a toy to her, so it works the opposite and gets her riled up. It's wonderful to hear that he's a good sleeper. If it weren't for Debbie's testimony, I would beleive that boys are better sleepers than girls - she would definitely NOT agree with that, though ;-) Well, I'd better get to bed. Feel free to email me directly (embee@usfamily.net). It's been great chatting with you!

Evenflow makes the exercaucers. There are other brands as well. It's built like a walker but it's stationary. It's a circle with a seat that rotates, and baby can bounce, too. There are attached toys and activities. Alex also likes to be upright, so when we could start putting her in the exercaucer it was so ideal. She's mastered all of the toys and activities, and spins around like a pro. They're kind of expensive when you buy new. If you don't have an aversion to used stuff, you can usually find them in good condition at the baby consignment shops, garage sales, etc.... I bought mine used and just disinfected it before I used it. The cloth seats come out to wash, and the rest is plastic, so you can spray it down and hose it off.
