I read a great book called The Happiest Baby On The Block. It had great ideas for calming crying, and settling. He said colic was a result of an immature nervous system, and some babies are unable to shut down when there is too much stimuli. Some ideas were swaddling, SSSHHHing in baby's ear when worked up, and really bouncung them. All these thing are reminders of the womb and very calming to the baby. I didn't think the shushung thing would work but he actually settled the first time we tried it. Good luck, maybe you can find it at the library.
