If this was an isolated incident, I wouldn't worry too much. However, if the extreme fussiness continues (inconsolable crying, arching back, gassiness)please insist that your baby be checked out. My son suffered so, because his pediatrician insisted that I should not stop breast feeding. He gained weight well, but screamed constantly, had terrible diahrrhea, gas, excema, etc. I stopped drinking milk, without realizing, or being told, that I should have cut out ALL dairy products. The pain continued. We then tried him on formula...with no improvement. Like a fool, I went to cow's milk at 1 year....with terrible reactions. Finally had him tested, and he is allergic to milk proteins, (whey, casien) wheat, eggs and peanuts. We must watch everything he eats. At 22 months, he has just been diagnosed with reflux and his esophogus is ulcerated. (We were again suffering the inconsolable crying, up all night most nights.) Anyhow, this is an extreme example, but I could have saved us all a lot of pain had I been more assertive with the Dr's in the beginning. I now ignore my pediatrician most of the time, and seek out specialists on my own. Go with your gut instincts and follow through. Good luck to you!
