Elizabeth, the best prevention is in being a good parent and keeping your child away from that lifestyle. It's obvious that you are a concerned parent. And as that concerned parent, I'm sure you will consult a physician, maybe there are steps medically, but not that I'm aware of. I'm sure you'll end up okay and roll with the punches.

: hello my name is elizabeth and im 33 years old.my husband and i adopted a son when he was 6 months old and were not told anything about his mom being on drugs the entire pregnancy until he was 4. ive been reading and i know that he will probably end dependent on drugs. i havent talked to many doctors but are there any preventions or any ways of helping this problem become less likely. im nervous about this all any advice is welcome thanks
