Elizabeth, I agree with DaddyJon. You are already, and have already given him a good and better life. I, unfortunately, know parents who have done drugs throughout their pregnancies and their kids have NOT gotten involved with drugs, thank goodness. I do not disagree that it could be "genetic" in some cases, but I also think parenting style has a direct influence on how children "turn out" for the most part. Of course there have been many of 'us' who did not do drugs during pregnancy and thought we could not have raised our child any better and for some reason or a host of reasons our kids end up on drugs. I think you just have to roll w/the punches, do the best you can do, and take it from there. Try not to worry NOW...he's got a long way to go before you get there. Take Care. : hello my name is elizabeth and im 33 years old.my husband and i adopted a son when he was 6 months old and were not told anything about his mom being on drugs the entire pregnancy until he was 4. ive been reading and i know that he will probably end dependent on drugs. i havent talked to many doctors but are there any preventions or any ways of helping this problem become less likely. im nervous about this all any advice is welcome thanks
