In Reply to: crying while eating, suggestions please. posted by momof1 on December 31, 2002 at 11:39:43:
Hi, This is only my opinion. I dont think at 14 weeks or 3 1/2 months he needs to burp every two ounces like a newborn would. I think he's getting mad when you take the bottle away. See if you can extend it to maybe 4 oz and see if it changes his behavior. By the time my kids were 4-5 months old, they were drinking a whole bottle w/out burping. If you tried to take it away to burp inbetween, they had a fit, screaming and arching until they burped, then the same again. It would make sense that he's gotten worse as he wants to eat more and doesnt want to take the time to stop and burp! Only my suggestion.........let me know what happens, it should be intresting!! Hi! my 14 week old son cries while eating. Actually, I give him the bottle and he drinks peacefully, then when it is time to burp him (every two onces), he screams and arches his back. This continues on until a burp comes. Then I feed again, and the crying starts all over again. This happens everytime I feed him and has gotten worse rather than better since birth. : I am most concerned for when I start to feed him solids, is he goint to scream through every meal? : Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated. :

: i have tried everything I can think of...give smaller amounts between burps, give larger amounts between burps, sit up to burp, across my and/or on my shoulder. We have purchased every ne fangled style bottle available to cut down on air, but nothingf seems to work. He is on Similac low iron formula and drinks about 25 onces a day.
: My dr. doesn't have any answers and says that some babies due this.
